Russian and Central European Studies
The goals of the Russian and Central European studies major are to promote the study of Russia, the CIS, and Central Europe within an integrated interdisciplinary framework, and to build better understanding of the societies and cultures of Central Europe and the CIS through the exchange of students, faculty and publications. Program OverviewPreparation for this major requires competency in the Russian language, achieved by a four-semester study in the reading, writing, and speaking of Russian. At the upper-division level, students are required to take courses in economics, geography, history, humanities, political science, advanced Russian, and approved electives.
