Fall 2007 Admitted Transfer Students*

Step 6 – Apply for Housing

The Office of Housing Administration (OHA) is pleased that you have been admitted to San Diego State University. You are invited to join our dynamic residential community.

  1. Admitted students need to request a License Agreement, if they haven’t done so already, by indicating their interest in on-campus housing in the Admission Status Check section of their SDSU WebPortal account.
  2. Priority for on-campus housing will be based on the date the admitted student submits their Intent to Enroll $250 deposit. Therefore the sooner the student submits their Intent and deposit, the greater chance of receiving on-campus housing and their hall preference. Do not delay, as spaces fill quickly.
  3. License Agreements will be made available online through the SDSU WebPortal in early spring to all admitted students who have indicated interest in on-campus housing (step 1). The License Agreement paperwork and $800 initial payment are due no later than June 1, 2007 to maintain the Intent to Enroll payment priority date. Housing Administration strongly recommends returning all documents and initial payments early to ensure on-time receipt by the University Cashier.

The Office of Housing Administration maintains a detailed Web site to provide on-campus housing information to new students. Please visit www.sdsu.edu/housing for more information regarding the housing application process, residence hall options, living communities, meal plans and costs.

Residence Halls

Residence halls provide a number of amenities to make your on-campus living experience a positive one. Living on campus at SDSU means freedom from frustrating commutes, costly utility bills, daily meal preparation, and cleaning. Amenities include: 10 MB Ethernet connection in each room; local telephone, voicemail and cable services; study, lounge and recreation rooms; swimming pools and volleyball courts; kitchenette for hall events; weekly residence hall newsletter; and membership to the state-of-the-art Aztec Recreation Center. Your residence hall contract includes a choice of several meal plans and most rooms are equipped with a microfridge (mini-microwave/refrigerator/freezer). SDSU also offers special living communities, such as Extended Quiet Study Areas, Housing Over the Breaks, Transfer Student Environment, and International House.

While most of our residents are freshmen, SDSU recognizes that many transfer students want to live with other students their own age. The OHA tries to place transfer students with continuing residents or other transfer students. As you consider on-campus living, please be aware that apartment space in Villa Alvarado is limited and no meal plan is required.

Residence hall communities provide a strong support network within your living environment and the opportunity to establish close-knit friendships. Most of SDSU's living options include live-in staff to help you have a successful college experience.

To find out more about the different living options, check out the online Virtual Tour.
