Fall 2010 First-Time Freshmen Applicants
The following information is provided for first-time freshmen who have applied to San Diego State University for the fall 2010 semester*.
SDSU receives thousands of applications during the filing period. Over the next few months, special attention will be given to reviewing each application. Initial admission decisions will be based on the information you reported on your application and the academic qualifications of the applicant pool. Notices of admission will be sent in March 2010.
In the meantime, there are steps you can take to make sure you have a smooth admissions experience.
- Review all of the information to the left before you are notified of SDSU's admission decision.
- Create your SDSU WebPortal account.
- Check your admission status periodically and keep your e-mail and mailing address updated.
- Review the Required Testing information for freshmen applicants. The California State University (CSU) requires that all first-year freshmen fulfill the Entry-Level Mathematics (ELM) and English Placement Test (EPT) requirements. You must fulfill these testing requirements by May 1, 2010.
-
Request an on-campus housing license agreement if you plan to apply for on-campus housing. This can be done by going to the
admission status section of your
WebPortal account and request a Housing License Agreement. Note that admitted first-time freshmen from outside the SDSU local service area will be required to live on campus. Students are in SDSU's service area if they graduate from a high school in San Diego County located south of state route 56 and extending eastward AND Imperial County high schools.
- If you completed coursework from an international institution, you must submit a course evaluation report for that work. To do this, send official copies of your international academic transcripts to one of the evaluation service companies listed below. Request the specified evaluation report be sent directly to the SDSU Office of Admissions. Your international evaluation services report will be used to determine your eligibility for admission.

If you are admitted, courses you listed on your application as in-progress or planned must be completed with grades of C or higher by the end of the spring 2010 term. You must also maintain your reported overall grade point average. If you earn a grade of D or F during this academic year, or if your grade point average drops below what was reported on your application, your offer of admission will be withdrawn.
