Upper-Division Transfer Admission Criteria
Spring 2008

San Diego State University will be accepting spring 2008 applications from upper division transfer students and SDSU students seeking readmission to the University. Students must have earned at least 50% of their course work at colleges or universities in San Diego County that are located south of state route 56 and extending eastward AND Imperial County.

The following community colleges are in SDSU's service area. Remember, at least 50% of course work must be completed at the colleges to apply for spring admission.

• Cuyamaca College
• Grossmont College
• Imperial Valley College
• San Diego Miramar College
• San Diego City College
• San Diego Mesa College
• Southwestern College

To be considered for spring admission to SDSU, applicants should meet the following minimum CSU eligibility requirements and SDSU requirements. Applicants not meeting the following requirements will be ranked based on how closely they meet the criteria and considered for admission on a space-available basis.

Applicants must apply during the CSU initial admission application filing period of August 1 - 31, 2007.

Unit Requirements:

• A minimum of 60 transferable semester units completed by the end of fall 2007.

Course Requirements:

• General Education requirements in written communication, oral communication, critical thinking, and mathematics completed with a "C" or higher in each course by the end of summer 2007.
• All lower division General Education (GE) completed by the end of fall 2007.
• At least two preparation for major courses that are articulated or approved as equivalent. Some impacted majors have specific grade expectations for individual courses or combination of courses that must be met.

GPA Requirements:

• Applicants must meet the GPA required for the major.
• Applicants must meet the required GPA at the time of application, and they must maintain the GPA through the end of fall 2007.

Spring 2008 Nursing Applicants

Nursing applicants must submit an SDSU application and file a separate application with the School of Nursing between August 1 - 31, 2007.

Applicants must be admitted to the university for the spring 2008 semester in order to be admitted to the School of Nursing. For more information about nursing admission procedures, visit the School of Nursing Web site and choose "Program Information.”

Spring 2008 Transfer Admission Guarantee

The SDSU Transfer Admission Guarantee provides an opportunity for guaranteed admission to the university for undergraduate students transferring from SDSU service-area community colleges. Admission to SDSU will be guaranteed for students who:

• Complete at least 50% of their transferable credits from institutions in SDSU’s service area, including, Cuyamaca, Grossmont, Imperial Valley, San Diego City, San Diego Mesa, San Diego Miramar and Southwestern.
• Fall applicants must complete 50% of their transferrable credits by the end of the fall prior to admission (e.g. fall 2007 for fall 2008 applicants). Spring applicants must complete 50% of their transferable credits by the end of the summer prior to enrollment.
• Apply for admission to SDSU via the CSUMentor Web site during the published filing period
  • Fall filing period – October 1 through November 30
  • Spring filing period – August 1 through August 31
• Complete the requirements listed below, by the deadlines indicated

	GENERAL EDUCATION	Complete a certified General Education package of 39 units (CSU GE or IGETC) or any applicable lower division GE pattern listed in the SDSU catalog. 	MAJOR PREPARATION	Complete at least two courses of major preparation listed in the SDSU General Catalog. The Transfer Admission Guarantee assures admission to the university. Students must follow the rules of admission of their intended major department to be admitted into the major.

Students who are not eligible for the Transfer Admission Guarantee will be ranked based on the extent to which they have completed the requirements listed above. SDSU will admit via this ranking until all available enrollment slots have been filled.
