Upper-Division Transfer Admission Criteria
Spring 2008

San Diego State University will be accepting spring 2008 applications from upper division transfer students and SDSU students seeking readmission to the University. Students must have earned at least 50% of their course work at colleges or universities in San Diego County that are located south of state route 56 and extending eastward AND Imperial County.

The following community colleges are in SDSU's service area. Remember, at least 50% of course work must be completed at the colleges to apply for spring admission.

To be considered for spring admission to SDSU, applicants should meet the following minimum CSU eligibility requirements and SDSU requirements. Applicants not meeting the following requirements will be ranked based on how closely they meet the criteria and considered for admission on a space-available basis.

Applicants must apply during the CSU initial admission application filing period of August 1 - 31, 2007.

Spring 2008 Nursing Applicants

Nursing applicants must submit an SDSU application and file a separate application with the School of Nursing between August 1 - 31, 2007.

Applicants must be admitted to the university for the spring 2008 semester in order to be admitted to the School of Nursing. For more information about nursing admission procedures, visit the School of Nursing Web site and choose "Program Information.”

Spring 2008 Transfer Admission Guarantee

The SDSU Transfer Admission Guarantee provides an opportunity for guaranteed admission to the university for undergraduate students transferring from SDSU service-area community colleges. Admission to SDSU will be guaranteed for students who:

“GOLDEN FOUR”

Complete General Education requirements in oral communication, critical thinking, written communication, and math/quantitative reasoning completed with “C” or higher grades.

Must be complete by the end of the spring term prior to fall admission

GPA

Meet the grade point average (GPA) requirement for the major listed in the SDSU General Catalog.

UNITS

Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester units.

GENERAL EDUCATION

Complete a certified General Education package of 39 units (CSU GE or IGETC) or any applicable lower division GE pattern listed in the SDSU catalog.

MAJOR PREPARATION

Complete at least two courses of major preparation listed in the SDSU General Catalog.

The Transfer Admission Guarantee assures admission to the university. Students must follow the rules of admission of their intended major department to be admitted into the major.

Students who are not eligible for the Transfer Admission Guarantee will be ranked based on the extent to which they have completed the requirements listed above. SDSU will admit via this ranking until all available enrollment slots have been filled.
