Veterans, Active Duty Military and Dependents

San Diego State University values its veterans, active duty military and dependent students. We will do everything in our means to assist you as you embark on an exciting academic career with us.

You may be eligible for admission to SDSU in accordance with our First-Time Freshman or Transfer criteria. Some students may be eligible for admission under SDSU’s Adult Student option. Additionally some military or veterans with unusual or extraordinary circumstances may be considered for admission as a lower division transfer student.

Active Duty Applicants to SDSU: Active duty military who have been involuntarily deployed away from their installation during the fall semester admission filing period (October 1 – November 30) may request to submit a late application.

Admitted Active Duty Students to SDSU: Admitted applicants are allowed to “roll over” their admission during the duration of their compulsory service that prohibits them from attending SDSU as planned. Admitted applicants will be granted an extended leave of absence and must begin attending SDSU within 12 months after being released from compulsory duties. Admitted applicants will retain the catalog rights for the original year they were admitted. Students should notify the SDSU Office of the Admissions of their plans to return to SDSU as soon as possible.

Admitted students must submit to the Office of Admissions proof of compulsory service that prohibits them from attending SDSU prior to departure (preferred) or within 12 months after being released from compulsory duties. Reservists must show proof by providing activation orders; active duty military must provide a letter from a commanding officer.

Applicants for Officer Commissioning Programs:  Active duty military who are applying to the Navy STA-21, Army Green to Gold, or Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Program should contact Frank Roberts, Prospective Student Services, at froberts@mail.sdsu.edu.
