How to Apply
First, follow the graduate steps to apply.
Then, submit the following materials through the online application to the Department of Child and Family Development.
Plan A (thesis)
Submit the following:
- Applicant's letter of intent which includes reason for seeking the degree and career goals
- Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from an academic reference and another from an occupational reference
- A written personal statement discussing background, interests, experiences, abilities, and career goals as they apply to the applicant's desire for a graduate degree in child development
- Completion of a telephone or in person interview conducted by one or more members of the Child Development Faculty Governing Board
- Resume
Plan B (project or exam)
To be considered for admission to the graduate program Plan B (project or a comprehensive exam for applicants with EC-SEBRIS certificate) in child development, an applicant must have a minimum of three years work experience in the field of child development. The applicant must submit to Graduate Admissions the same admission materials as Plan A applicants.
The applicant must submit the following for review by the Child Development Faculty Governing Board, which is in addition to the common admissions package:
- Applicant's letter of intent which includes reason for seeking the degree and career goals
- Three letters of recommendation, two of which must be from an occupational reference as well as completion of a rating form by the employer assessing the administrative skills of applicant
- A resume
- A written personal statement by the applicant discussing background, interests, work experience, abilities, and career goals as they apply to the applicant's desire for a graduate degree in child development
- Completion of a telephone or in person interview conducted by one or more members of the Child Development Faculty Governing Board
Fall 2013 Deadline
Step 1: CSUMentor Application—March 1
Step 2 and 3: File Completion—April 1
All application materials including departmental requirements must be submitted by the file completion date.
