Communication
Emphases in Advertising or Public Relations
Students must enter the university under the communications advertising premajor code (06040) or the communications public relations premajor code (05990). To be admitted to the communication advertising major or communication public relations major, students must meet the following criteria:
a. Complete the following courses with a grade of C or higher and a minimum GPA of 2.85: Communication 200; Economics 101; Journalism 220; and Political Science 101 and 102. These courses cannot be taken for Credit/No Credit (Cr/NC);
b. Complete a minimum of 45 transferable semester units and a maximum of 90 semester units;
c. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher;
d. Pass the Journalism Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation (GSP) test; and
e. To gain entry into the major, students must fulfill the premajor requirements described in the General Catalog in effect at the time they declare the premajor at SDSU (assuming continuous enrollment).
To complete the major, students must fulfill the degree requirements for the major described in the General Catalog in effect at the time they are accepted into the premajor at SDSU (assuming continuous enrollment).
