Step 2—Create an SDSU WebPortal Account

Within two weeks, you will receive an email from SDSU prompting you to create a WebPortal Account. As an applicant to SDSU, you will use your WebPortal account to check the status of your application, using your RedID number. You must have a valid email address to create your WebPortal account.

  1. Go to www.sdsu.edu/portal
  2. Enter your RedID number as the user name.
  3. In the password field, enter your date of birth (MMDDYY). For example, if you were born on October 24, 1996, your password is 102496.
  4. A temporary password will be sent to your email account.

You must create a more secure, permanent password. Please note that your permanent password must contain a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Note: When you are asked to enter a Social Security Number (SSN), re-enter your RED ID number in this field. If you need additional assistance in activating your WebPortal account, please call SDSU’s Office of the Registrar.
