Educational Opportunity Program
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
is an undergraduate retention program that provides support for
low-income, educationally disadvantaged students throughout their
entire San Diego State University experience. To be admitted to
EOP, students must apply and meet the income criteria, must be California
residents, and must demonstrate academic potential and motivation
to succeed in college.
Prior to students’ admission to SDSU,
EOP staff members provide information about SDSU, the EOP program,
and EOP admissions process. Prior to enrollment, EOP’s First
Contact Program provides orientation to EOP services, expectations
and requirements, as well as information about other campus services
and programs.
Once admitted to SDSU and to EOP, first-time
freshmen may apply to the Academics…Plus Summer Bridge Program,
which supports recent graduates in their transition from high school
to college and strengthens their math, reading, or other skills.
While attending SDSU, EOP students receive academic advising and
personal counseling, free tutoring, student-to-student mentoring,
and an EOP grant (depending upon financial eligibility).
To become eligible, complete the EOP section
on the SDSU admissions application. To be considered for participation
in EOP, you must complete and submit the forms included in the EOP
information and supplementary application booklet. Dependent students
must summit copies of the Federal Income Tax filed by their Parents/Legal
Guardians in order to determine EOP eligibility.
For information about EOP services and the application process,
visit the EOP Web site.
