Fall 2014 Nursing Application

Information for Nursing Applicants

Upper-division nursing transfer students and second bachelor's degree in nursing students are eligible for fall admission consideration only. Prospective upper-division nursing transfer students and second bachelor’s degree in nursing applicants must complete all School of Nursing prerequisite courses by the end of the fall 2013 academic semester in order to be eligible for fall 2014 admission. Nursing prerequisite courses may not be in progress during spring 2014.

The School of Nursing will evaluate all applicants based on a point system that can be accessed on the school's website.

Application Process and Deadlines

The School of Nursing’s application must be submitted between October 1 to November 30, 2013. The Nursing Application can be found on the School of Nursing website. Additional documents (including your Nursing Packet) must be submitted by January 31, 2014.

Applications may be hand-delivered to the School of Nursing in Hardy Tower Room 58, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding campus holidays. The School of Nursing encourages all applicants to write a receipt of all materials that are submitted to the Nursing office and have the Front Desk receptionist sign the receipt. Retain the receipt for your records.   

The School of Nursing Application may also be mailed via USPS, FedEx or UPS.  It is recommended to request a return receipt or delivery confirmation from the mailing agency. Please address completed application to:

Nursing packets for fall 2014 must be submitted to the School of Nursing by January 31, 2014.

A complete nursing packet must include:

  • TEAS test results. Scores may be printed from the ATI website. No electronic/faxed copies will be accepted.
  • Health Care Experience Verification Letter – Applicants with certified health care work experience must include a verification letter in order to receive points on the Nursing Application. The letter must be written on official agency letterhead and include the total number paid hours and list job duties and responsibilities. A photocopy of license or certificate of training should be included in the packet. Please note, certified health care work experience is not required for admission.

In addition, students must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to the SDSU Office of Admissions by January 31, 2014. SDSU will accept only electronic transcripts from the schools listed on the Electronic Transcripts page. It is not necessary to send transcripts to the School of Nursing. Applicants will not be considered for fall 2014 admission unless all materials, including the nursing packet, are received by the January 31, 2014 deadline.
