  Dec. 1, 2011 Spring 2012 basic tuition and fee payments accepted.
  January 4 Spring 2012 registration begins.

Last day of registration before classes begin.

Holiday—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
  January 17 First day of spring semester.
  January 17 Last day to officially withdraw for the spring 2012 semester and receive a full refund.
  January 17 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
  January 18–19
Faculty/staff advising.
  January 18
FIRST DAY OF CLASSES.
  Jan. 18–Feb. 2 Fee payments accepted for late registration. Last opportunity to pay late basic tuition and fees is 3:30 p.m. on February 2.
  January 31 Last day to drop classes. No drops allowed after 11:59 p.m. on this date.
  February 1
Applications accepted for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for December 2012 graduation.
  February 2
Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for spring semester 2012.
  February 2
Last day to add classes or change grading basis. No schedule adjustments allowed after 11:59 p.m. on this date.
  February 2
Last day for payment of fees for late registration. (3:30 p.m. deadline.)

Last day to file application for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for May and August 2012 graduation.

Last day to file petition for concurrent master’s degree credit for spring semester 2012.

Classes resume.
  April 4 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for spring 2012 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after February 2 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
  April 4 Final day for submitting thesis (without risk) to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to ensure graduation in May 2012.
  April 5–May 22 Theses may be submitted to Montezuma Publishing on an at-risk basis. However, May 2012 graduation is contingent upon completion of final processing by 12 noon, May 20. Students missing this deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
  April 27 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for May 2012 graduation with an advanced degree.
  May 8 Last day of classes before final examinations.
  May 9 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
  May 10–17 Final examinations.
  May 17 Commencement, Imperial Valley Campus.
  May 18 Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by 12 noon on this date at Montezuma Publishing.
  May 18–20 Commencement, main campus.
  May 22 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
  May 22 Last day to apply for a leave of absence for spring semester 2012.
  May 22 Final day to submit thesis to Montezuma Publishing without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following semester. (Noon deadline.)
  May 22 Last day of spring semester.
