  Dec. 1, 2012 Spring 2013 basic tuition and fee payments accepted.
  January 3 Spring 2013 registration begins.
  January 15
Last day of registration before classes begin.
  January 16 First day of spring semester.
  January 16 Last day to officially withdraw for the spring 2013 semester and receive a full refund.
  January 16 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
  January 17–18
Faculty/staff advising.
  January 17
FIRST DAY OF CLASSES.
  Jan. 17–Feb. 4 Fee payments accepted for late registration. Last opportunity to pay late basic tuition and fees is 3:30 p.m. on February 4.
  January 21
Holiday—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
  January 31 Last day to drop classes. No drops allowed after 11:59 p.m. on this date.
  February 1
Applications accepted for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for December 2013 graduation.
  February 4
Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for spring semester 2013.
  February 4
Last day to add classes or change grading basis. No schedule adjustments allowed after 11:59 p.m. on this date.
  February 4
Last day for payment of fees for late registration. (3:30 p.m. deadline.)
  February 4
Last day to file application for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for May and August 2013 graduation.
  February 4
Last day to file petition for concurrent master’s degree credit for spring semester 2013.
  February 14 Census.
  March 26 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for spring 2013 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after February 4 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).

Last day of classes before spring recess.
  April 1-5
Spring recess.

Holiday—Cesar Chavez Day.
Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
  April 5 Final day for submitting thesis (without risk) to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to ensure graduation in May 2013.
  April 8
Classes resume.
  April 8–May 17 Theses may be submitted to Montezuma Publishing on an at-risk basis. However, May 2013 graduation is contingent upon completion of final processing by 12 noon, May 17. Students missing this deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
  April 26 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for May 2013 graduation with an advanced degree.
  May 8 Last day of classes before final examinations.
  May 8 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
  May 9–16 Final examinations.
  May 16 Commencement, Imperial Valley Campus.
  May 17 Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by 12 noon on this date at Montezuma Publishing.
  May 17–19 Commencement, main campus.
  May 21 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
  May 21 Last day to apply for a leave of absence for spring semester 2013.
  May 21 Final day to submit thesis to Montezuma Publishing without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following semester. (Noon deadline.)
  May 21 Last day of spring semester.
