Spring Semester 2016

  Nov. 4, 2015 Personal registration information available in the SDSU WebPortal.
  Nov. 16, 2015 Spring 2016 basic tuition and fee payments accepted.
  January 6 Spring 2016 registration begins.
  January 15
Last day to officially withdraw for the spring 2016 semester and receive a full refund.
 January 16–17 Faculty/staff advising.
  January 18 Holiday—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
  January 19
First day of spring semester.
  January 19-Feb. 2
Fee payments accepted for late registration. Last opportunity to pay late basic tuition and fees is February 2.
  January 19
Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
  January 20
FIRST DAY OF CLASSES. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
  Jan. 27-Feb. 2 On the sixth day of classes through 10th day of classes, faculty must monitor their class rosters and determine if seats may be added to the wait list to meet the enrollment needs for the class. Students will not be automatically enrolled unless faculty add the seats from their wait lists, even if a seat becomes available.
  January 29 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes.
  February 1 Applications accepted for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for December 2016 graduation.
  February 2
Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for spring semester 2016.
  February 2
Schedule adjustment deadline. Last day for students to add, drop, or change grading basis (11:59 p.m. deadline). Last day for faculty to add from their wait list.
  February 2
Last day for payment of fees for late registration.
  February 2
Last day to file application for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for May and August 2016 graduation.
  February 2
Last day to file petition for concurrent master’s degree credit for spring semester 2016.
  February 16 Census.
  March 22 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for spring 2016 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after February 2 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
  March 25
Last day of classes before spring recess.
  March 28-April 1 Spring recess.
  March 31
Holiday—Cesar Chavez Day.
Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
  April 4 Classes resume.
  April 15
Final Day for submitting thesis with the $50 processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the likelihood for graduation in May 2016.
  April 18–May 20 Theses may be submitted to Montezuma Publishing on an at-risk basis with $50 processing fee. However, May 2016 graduation is contingent upon completion of final processing by 12 p.m., May 18. Students missing this deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
  April 22 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for May 2016 graduation with an advanced degree.
  May 5 Last day of classes before final examinations.
  May 5 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
  May 6–12 Final examinations.
  May 12 Commencement, Imperial Valley Campus.
  May 18 Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by 12 p.m. on this date at Montezuma Publishing to meet graduation requirement.
  May 13–15 Commencement, main campus.
  May 20 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
  May 20 Last day to apply for a leave of absence for spring semester 2016.
  May 20 Final day to submit thesis to Montezuma Publishing without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following semester. (Noon deadline.)
  May 20 Last day of spring semester.
