Military & Veterans Education Benefits

Step 4: Submit Additional Documentation to the JABVC

Students wishing to utilize federal VA education benefits, must provide the Barron Veterans Center the following documentation EACH semester AFTER registering for classes. Students do NOT have to provide a class schedule.

Chapter 30: Montgomery GI Bill

  • A signed VA Form 22-1995 the first semester attending and/or if changing a major.
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.

Chapter 31: Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment

  • If the VR&E counselor has not already done so, provide a copy signed by the counselor of the VA Form 22-1905 authorizing the student to pursue training.
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.
  • The student will receive from JABVC staff the necessary documentation to obtain books, parking pass, and/or other approved items after notification that the certification has been completed.

Chapter 33: Post 9/11 GI Bill

  • If not already submitted, provide a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility in order to have tuition and fees deferred for future terms.
  • A signed VA Form 22-1995 the first semester attending and/or if changing a major.
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.

Chapter 35: Dependents Education Assistance

  • A signed VA Form 22-5495 the first semester attending and/or if changing a major.
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.
  • Additionally, the VA Claim Number (with assigned suffix) must be indicated on the Student Responsibility Agreement.

Chapter 1606: Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve

  • A signed VA Form 22-1995 the first semester attending and/or if changing a major
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.

Chapter 1607: Reserve Educational Assistance Program

  • A signed VA Form 22-1995 the first semester attending and/or if changing a major
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.

Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship

  • If not already submitted, provide a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility in order to have tuition and fees deferred for future terms
  • A signed VA Form 22-1995 the first semester attending and/or if changing a major
  • A completed and signed Student Responsibility Agreement. Without this document, the VA will NOT be notified that the student wishes to use their benefits.

Students utilizing the CalVet Fee Waiver do not have any additional documentation to provide unless utilizing one of the above benefits as well.
